Welcome

Headteacher’s Welcome

Welcome to Norton‑sub‑Hamdon Church School — a small, caring village school set in beautiful grounds where every child matters.

As Headteacher, I am proud that our school is part of the Bath & Wells Multi‑Academy Trust and that we are able to combine the strengths of a close‑knit community with the professional support and high expectations a trust brings. With just three classes, we know every child really well. That means learning is personalised, relationships are strong, and children’s wellbeing and progress are at the heart of everything we do.

Our Christian vision — ‘I have come that they may have life in all its fullness’ — and our core values of Courage, Kindness and Respect shape daily life here. We aim to nurture curious, creative and confident children who are ready for the next steps in their education and life. You will see this in our welcoming classrooms, our purposeful lessons, and the many chances children have to explore, play and learn outdoors across our lovely grounds.

We work closely with families, staff and the wider community to give your child a broad, balanced and ambitious curriculum. We place particular emphasis on strong early reading and communication skills, high‑quality classroom teaching and thoughtful support for those with additional needs — because every child deserves to thrive.

Whether you are visiting our website, joining us for the first time, or already part of our school family, I hope you feel the warmth and care that make Norton‑sub‑Hamdon such a special place to learn.

With best wishes,

Amanda Phillips
